October 22nd is the National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of of a Generation. Recently the NYPD has engaged in systematic violence against Black and Latino communities. The racist stop-and-frisk policies of the NYPD have criminalized our youth while only 1.9 percent of 684,330 in 2011 turned up weapons. The NYPD has shot down our people like dogs with incidents such as the Ramarley Graham, Shantel Davis, Reynaldo Cuevas and more recently Noel Polanco shootings. This year alone every 36 hours one Black person was killed by the police.  This is the national oppression of Black and Latino people in New York City by the blue uniformed goons of the white supremacist state.

The state and its ruling class have made a conscious decision to step up its repressive campaign against oppressed-nationality youth.  Mayor Bloomberg this year was quoted saying, “I have my own army in the NYPD”.  The enemies of this army are the working class, oppressed and poor of this city.  Through stop-and-frisk they want to make us tomorrow’s profitable commodity of the prison industrial complex.  Even in our high schools and college campuses the police still harass us while we try to receive an education.  If we are of no use to their system then they execute us without facing any punishment.  This system clearly has nothing to offer us; the youth must take its destiny into its own hands.

We must say no to the racist criminalization and brutality our communities face. The youth must rise up against the NYPDs stop-and-frisk campaign and executions.  We must reject the occupation of our communities by Bloomberg’s “own army”.  October 22nd, 2012 will be the 17th anniversary of the national day to protest police brutality. It has mobilized, most importantly, families of victims of police brutality and youth on a nationwide level.  Join us in our student and youth contingent on October 22nd!
