CCNY Vice Prez for Student Affairs BANS Student Leaders from Campus

Earlier today, the CCNY Vice President for Student Affairs Juana Reina BANNED two student leaders, comrades of RSCC, from the CCNY campus without any hearing or any procedure. The students have been playing a leading role in the campaign to save the MORALES/SHAKUR CENTER.

One of the students is in the CCNY Sociology Department and has held a leadership position in the Black Student Union. The other student is an undeclared major who is an officer of Students for Justice in Palestine.

The stakes are clear. This is a blatant attack on student FREEDOM OF SPEECH and FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY. In the face of increasing outrage from the students and the community against the shutdown of the MORALES/SHAKUR CENTER, the CCNY administration plans more repression and more attacks on democratic rights. This is part of the overall trend in CUNY towards militarization and corporatization, a trend that must be turned back and defeated.

Call the Vice President for Student Affairs Juana Reina at 212-650-5426 to protest her undemocratic decision. The community must stand up for the students who are fighting for all of us. Share widely!

  2. As I stated elsewhere, they probably want to name it “the Bloomberg center for wealth management” in this “post-racial” “post-revolutionary” post-student right, human-rights or any rights other than those of the rich and (in)famous
